These were great pictures! Having spent lots of vacation time in Vancouver Island, both on the east side, Parksvile and Nanaimo, and Tofino on the west. I have never even heard of this beautiful park….from its lush greenery, one wonders whether or not it is part of a rain forest?
There are beautiful natural sceneries all over the Pacific Northwest. Olympic National Park in the state of Washington is one of the great ones, especially the area called Hurricane Ridge and its surroundings….those of the rain forests….the average annual rain fall on these forests exceed 300 inch. The title of rain forest can only be applied if the average rain fall is above 150 inch. In these forests you see moss trees grown over regular trees …with a natural beauty that can only be explained as breath taking. My first time out to Hurricane Ridge was one of the shock and wonder. It took me more than an hour before I could collect myself…ah stricken was the word. Canada and US occupy some of the most beautiful territories of the planet.
Note: the average rain fall in the Caspian Sea area is about 1.20 – 1.50 meter or about 50 inches of rain.

You are right, P_J. Goldstream Provincial Park (17 kilometers from downtown Victoria) lies amid an old-growth temperate rain forest.
