This was my seventh visit to Machu Picchu in as many years and the changes in the little town at the foot of the famous Inca ruins was noticeable. Known as Machu Picchu Pueblo, or Aguas Calientes, significant efforts have been made to beautify public spaces with rock art based on Inca traditions. Sculptors have carved reliefs on natural rock formations, many of them on the mile-long path to the hot springs. I stayed in the town for the day and went up the mountain to the ruins the next day. Being the slow season, there were not as many tourists or distractions. It was a beautiful day and I was at my favorite place in the world (video 1) (video 2) (video 3).
